Welcome to the EXTRAORDINARY WORLD OF MR. LOWE
Introduction
Students enrolled in my class will explore the fundamentals of art and design. Building on their prior
knowledge and skills, students will be engaged in a variety of hands-on learning and student centered activities. The application of the creative process in the students' daily lives and future careers are discussed and exhibited in group critiques, project creation, and multimedia visual
presentations. Throughout the course, students will learn to apply problem solving skills and brainstorming techniques.
Students will have extensive practice in the comprehension of basic symbol systems and abstract concepts. The course will offer application of
technical skill in practical production and performance. We will develop and practice creative and critical thinking skills through verbal and nonverbal communication. The course will be
exploring art technology and creative skills that relate to 21st century careers. Innovation, inspiration, imagination and creation are the core components of the course. A variety of materials
will be used, including but not limited to colored pencils, acrylic paints, markers, clay, oil pastel and watercolor. The course will not only build a solid foundation for complex skill learning,
but also an appreciation of the visual arts.
I look forward to seeing students engaged, excited and challenged through their 16 day experience this year!
